JOHOR BAHRU, 15 April 2018 – United Malayan Land (UMLand) Bhd, one of Malaysia’s most established property developers, will be building 1,122 affordable homes at UMLand Seri Alam under the Johor Affordable Housing Scheme. The groundbreaking ceremony was held today to mark the beginning of the construction of Perumahan Komuniti Johor (PKJ) and Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ).
UMLand Seri Alam has undertaken various affordable homes in the past and this collaboration with the Johor State government is another affordable housing development project by the company, which is scheduled to be completed in 36 months from commencement of construction. Johor State Menteri Besar, Yang Amat Berhormat (YAB) Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin, was present to officiate the ceremony.
The new development spans across 18.46 acres of land and is strategically located within UMLand Seri Alam, which is also known as the ‘City of Knowledge’. UMLand will build 421 units of Perumahan Komuniti Johor (PKJ-B) and 701 units of Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ).
These medium-cost 14-16 storey flat units will be priced at RM 80,000 (PKJ-B) and RM 150,000 (RMMJ) with built-ups of 850 sq. ft. (PKJ-B) and 1000 sq. ft. (RMMJ).

UMLand aims to play a vital part in Johor Bahru’s development through the provision of “value for money” homes of the highest quality for Johoreans both in terms of location and construction. Extra steps have been taken to ensure the comfort of future residents through careful placement of each residential block to minimize direct sunlight onto the housing units as well as maximize air flow between the building blocks.
In addition, UMLand hopes to create a vibrant community within the heart of a lush, green environment by transplanting tree seedlings and shrubs throughout the residential area to provide shade and shelter from the heat.
UMLand Seri Alam is already home to 80,000 residents with multiple educational institutions which range from international schools to higher education facilities. Upcoming construction projects such as Foon Yew Secondary School, Lee Chong Wei International Sports City and also the Third General Hospital, will further add to the township’s wide variety of easily accessible amenities.
