UMLand and UEM Land in Partnership to Develop Puteri Harbour
Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday October 14 - United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand), an
established developer of townships and niche projects, with UEM Land Berhad,
the master developer of Nusajaya - the largest integrated urban development
in South-east Asia, today entered into a Subscription and Joint Venture Agreement
("SJV Agreement"). UMLand and UEM Land are equal shareholders in the joint
venture company – Nusajaya Consolidated Sdn Bhd (“JVCo”).
Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, Managing Director of UEM Land Berhad says, “In
developing Nusajaya, UEM Land’s strategic approach is to focus our resources on
the development of strategic land parcels within Puteri Harbour. Through this
strategic partnership with a partner that has significant property development
experience and impeccable credentials such as UMLand, UEM Land will be able to
expedite the overall development of Puteri Harbour.
This joint venture is in line with UEM Land’s strategy of ‘concurrent development by
multiple world-class developers’ and will also unlock part of the land value.”
The UMLand Group has long established its credential as a reputable and
responsible developer with projects in the Klang Valley and Johor. Armed with its
experience in both township and niche developments, the UMLand Group will add
value to the Puteri Harbour Project whilst expanding its portfolio and increase
revenue and profits.
In line with expanding its niche development division as well as recognising the vast
potential of the Puteri Harbour waterfront development, the UMLand Group is
confident that its strategic partnership with Nusajaya master developer UEM Land to
offer a freehold mixed commercial and residential development will be well received
by the public.
Group Chief Executive Officer Anthony Yap said, “UMLand has a proven track
record in Johor Bahru as the developer of Bandar Seri Alam and Taman Seri Austin.
This strategic alliance with UEM Land offers a timely opportunity for UMLand to
further expand our presence in Johor into Nusajaya, a key component within the
Iskandar Malaysia region.
The joint venture would contribute to both UEM Land’s and UMLand’s financial
performances from financial year 2009 onwards, and additionally allow both
companies to participate and enjoy the upside potential from the development.
Puteri Harbour is an integrated waterfront and marina development that offers a
panoramic view of the Straits of Johor. This waterfront precinct dubbed “luxury’s new
attitude” is envisaged to be a unique lifestyle community, offering the experience of
exceptional waterfront living, exclusive condominiums, marinas, a retail centre,
dining, fashion, the arts and culture in a safe and picture perfect natural setting that
is complete with a water transportation terminal.
Puteri Harbour will appeal to the regional market with its ideal location for global or
regional commerce and events, state-of-the-art facilities and a business-friendly
environment.
To date, works on the Inner Lagoon of Puteri Harbour waterfront development is
completed and the marina is expected to receive its first boat by the end of this year,
complete with a Marina Clubhouse catering to the needs of seafarers and
Promenade for the general public.
Nusajaya, with its seven signature developments, is positioned as the “World in One
City” and poised to become a regional city. To ensure that this regional city stays
competitive in the global arena, UEM Land plans to provide world class
infrastructure for all who live, work and play here. Already planning is under way for
an Integrated City Management Platform, while its policy of a multi-telco
environment was sealed last month with both TM and TT dotcom and its Safety &
Security Blueprint launched in April this year will see its first roll out in Puteri
Harbour.
